Joomla 1.7Today marks the day when Joomla 1.6 is no longer supported for patches and updates by the Joomla team.

This doesn’t mean that your Joomla site will no longer work but rather it is time to upgrade to Joomla 1.7.

The Joomla projects new faster release development plan for Joomla has seen many changes over the last 8 months since the first initial release of Joomla 1.6 back in January. Furthermore the latest release will soon reach end of life when Joomla 1.8 is release early next year in January 2012.

Web accessibility For those that know little about web standards and web accessibility, this write is is a superb overview of what it is all about.

It talks about why it is important, the stigma around web accessibility and puts the reader into the point of view of what it is like to use a website as a disadvantage user.

Understanding why it is necessary to make web accessibile websites I believe is the first step of getting more designers and developers making the web a more accessible place.

DropBoxFrom time to time you need to share a few files with some friends or just sync a few files on your computer with your iPad.

Plugging wires, setting up iTunes and working out all sorts of weird things to get it all working right can really frustrate some people.

One way to get around it all is to sync it all with DropBox!

OmniGraffle Screen ShotA few months ago at the Product Mavens Meetup we were discussing prototyping and wire framing to get ideas and concepts across different members of a team.

It helps with design planning, development and overall strategy of a design or concept. It is also particularly good when working with clients trying to map out their structure of their websites. Having such a plan to work with makes development and implementation a breeze.

One such tool that was mentioned was OmniGraffle for the iPad. Just recently the other week I stumbled across it as a Mac application as well and it looks quite nice.
