Security Update for Joomla 1.6.4 Released

For those of you out there using the latest version of Joomla, Joomla 1.6.x, the Joomla security team have announced and released the latest patch, Joomla 1.6.4.

If you’re using versions 1.6.0 to 1.6.3, please have your Joomla installation upgraded to the latest version.

Security Tips for Joomla

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen lots of activity online and in the media from hacking groups attacking the CIA, The Sun UK, Sony and many more Government websites around the world. A particular hosting and domain provider here in Australia also became under attack and over 4,300 websites in Australia disappeared never to be recovered again.

The result being many Australian businesses loosing web traffic, revenue and potential business and in the worse case scenarios, their website completely.

Push to Live – Staging to Live Publishing

Push to LiveOver the past few months we’ve been perfecting a little system on our websites called “Push to Live“. It allow our clients to work safely on a secure staging environment that is only accessible to the administrators and users within the organisation.

From within this safe environment, web administrators can then simply click a button to push tested and approved content from the staging server to a live server, hence the name “Push to Live“.

When fan pages were first introduced to Facebook I thought the custom landing pages were a brilliant idea. It was an easy way to get the most important and current users to new fans to hopefully entice them to become new fans that you can engage on a regular basis.

Even though it seems so good I never actually had a chance to really play around with the Facebook Markup Language (FBML) and make good use out of it.

Recently though I had to dive into it as I was working on a social media campaign that really needed to engage the end users.

Sydney JoomlaDay Conference 2011

At our last Sydney Joomla User Group meeting in June, the group held a little think tank for the up coming Sydney JoomlaDay conference 2011.

Of course we’re all excited to have a conference this year as last year Sydney didn’t get to have one.

Date of the conference will be Saturday and Sunday, 5-6th of November 2011.
